Questions parents ask
How do I open the grown-ups’ area?
On the screen with the round windows, hold the small door at the top right. A ring fills around it; keep holding until it opens, about a second and a half. Then tap the three numbers written as words, in order.
After three wrong tries the numbers wait 30 seconds, so a child tapping at random can’t get through.
Which worlds are free?
The pond, the farm, the kitchen and winter. The other eight (the music room, the board, the garden, the reef, the studio, the street, space and the dinosaur valley) have a small padlock on their window and open with one purchase.
When a child taps a locked window, it gives a little shake and stays closed. Your child never sees a price or a purchase screen.
How do I open all the worlds?
Open the grown-ups’ area. At the top is the “All worlds” card: tap “Open all worlds” and Apple takes care of the purchase. It is one purchase, once, not a subscription. The padlocks go as soon as it is done; there is no need to restart the app.
I have a new device. How do I get my purchase back?
The purchase belongs to your Apple Account. On a device signed in to the same Apple Account, the app asks Apple when it starts. If the worlds are still locked, open the grown-ups’ area and tap “Restore purchases”.
Does it work with Family Sharing?
Yes. With purchase sharing on in your family group, one purchase opens the worlds on your family’s devices too.
If your child’s purchases need your approval (Ask to Buy), the card says the purchase is waiting for approval. The worlds open by themselves once you approve it.
How do I keep a little one inside the app?
Use Guided Access, which is part of iOS:
- Go to Settings, Accessibility, Guided Access. Turn it on and set a passcode.
- Open Tiny Atlas and triple-click the side button (or the Home button), then tap Start.
- To end it, triple-click again and enter the passcode.
What is the discovery journal, and how do I delete it?
In the grown-ups’ area, tap “Open the journal”. It tells you what your child has found in the worlds this week, suggests something to ask them about, and shows the worlds they stayed in longest. There are no scores, no timings and no comparisons, and it stays on the device.
To delete it, tap “Delete the journal” at the bottom of the journal. The worlds stay as they are. Deleting the app deletes the journal too.
How do I put the worlds back as new?
The worlds remember what your child made: the garden they planted, the jars on the shelf, the song they recorded. To clear all of it, open the grown-ups’ area and tap “Put the worlds back as new”. This does not remove the journal.
What data does Tiny Atlas collect?
None. There is no account, no server of ours, no ads and no third-party analytics. To know whether the purchase was made, the app asks Apple’s StoreKit on the device. The privacy policy has the details.
Which devices does it run on?
iPad and iPhone with iOS 16.4 or later. The worlds play in landscape, and no internet connection is needed to play.
Which languages does it speak?
The worlds have no words. The grown-ups’ area is in English or Turkish, following the device’s language.
